Summary

 

The on-going growth and dynamic nature of Miller Welding & Machine Co. (MWM) may require this job description to change. Changes in the job description will be at the sole discretion of management. This description is intended as an outline of the principal duties of the position; other duties may be assigned to further the interest of MWM.

 

A major portion of this position (at least 50% of the job) requires the individual to maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner so that the individual gets along with customers, clients, co-workers and management.

 

Function: Represent the company in the acquisition of goods and services required to assure on-time deliveries and customer satisfaction. Identify and obtain the products and services that must be obtained externally. Evaluate, and determine the best supplier, value and delivery for those products and services.

 

Job Requirements:

Education: Associate’s Degree

Experience: Six (6) months to One (1) year related experience and/or training; OR equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Other abilities:

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos

  • Ability to effective communicate/present information in a one-on-one and small group situation to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization

  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision

  • Flexibility in working hours as required by workload and communication demands.

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all unites of measure

  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, percent, and to draw and interpret bar graphs

  • Ability to read and understand blueprints/technical drawings

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions

Provide sales support for

  1. Customer, agent and subsidiary inquiries are responded to promptly and concisely.
  2. Provide technical sales support to customer, agents and subsidiaries and demonstrate continued growth in a technical knowledge.
  3. Generate quotations for assigned accounts by managing information flow throughout MWM (Engineering, Production, Quality, Shipping, Purchasing)
  4. Visit key accounts quarterly
  5. Communicate daily issues to relevant sales personnel & top management.
  6. Maintain accurate monthly sales order, forecasting and S&OP data. Using the concepts and practices of strategic sourcing, select and engage a focused set of suppliers who can provide the required quality, service, and cost;

MWM products, technology

  1. A technical knowledge of MWM products and applications is maintained at a level such that technical discussions can be conducted with internal & external customers.

Provide support to manufacturing team

  1. Ensure that buying related activities in the manufacturing process are completed in a prompt manner such that manufacturing is able to meet customer requirements;
  2. Ensure that all purchasing and schedule related dates are valid in the ERP system at all times;
  3. Provide corrective feedback for bills of material and routings in a timely manner;
  4. Set purchasing department team member work schedules as necessary to support manufacturing processes and schedules.
